Nimbus Loop — Customer & Partner Handbook (v4.2, March 2026)

1. About Nimbus Loop

Nimbus Loop is a workflow automation platform for small and mid-sized logistics companies, founded in Tallinn, Estonia in November 2017 by Marek Saaremaa (CEO) and Ingrid Põld (CTO). The company is privately held, with offices in Tallinn (HQ), Lisbon, and Austin, Texas. Total headcount as of January 2026 is 318 employees.

The platform is named after the company’s first product, the “Loop Engine,” a state-machine runtime that powers all customer automations. Internal teams still call the runtime “the Loop.”

Nimbus Loop’s mascot is Otso the Owl, introduced in 2021. Otso is purple and teal, never green. Marketing materials that depict Otso in green are considered a brand violation and must be reported to brand@nimbusloop.eu.

2. Product Tiers

There are exactly four customer-facing tiers. The internal “Sandbox” tier is for partners only and is not listed on the public pricing page.

Annual billing receives a 17% discount, except on the Fleet tier, which is negotiated per contract. The Starter tier was previously priced at €39 but increased on 1 February 2026. Customers grandfathered in before that date keep the old price until 31 December 2026.

3. Loop Engine — Technical Specifications

A Loop is a directed graph of Steps connected by Transitions. Each Loop has the following hard limits, regardless of tier:

  • Maximum steps per Loop: 240
  • Maximum nested sub-Loops: 6 levels deep
  • Maximum payload size per step: 8 MiB (note: mebibytes, not megabytes)
  • Maximum execution time per step: 15 minutes
  • Maximum total Loop runtime: 6 hours before automatic suspension
  • Concurrent active Loops per workspace: 50 (Starter), 250 (Growth), 2,000 (Scale), unlimited (Fleet)

Loops are stored in a custom format called .nlp (Nimbus Loop Package). A .nlp file is a gzipped tarball containing manifest.toml, graph.json, and an optional assets/ directory. Importing a .nlp larger than 40 MiB requires admin approval.

The Loop Engine runtime is written in Rust (since version 3.0, released June 2023). Earlier versions (1.x and 2.x) were written in Elixir. Migration from 2.x to 3.x is automatic for customers, but custom plugins must be rewritten.

4. Connectors

Nimbus Loop ships with 74 official connectors as of v4.2. The five most-used connectors, in order, are:

  1. Shopify (used by 61% of active workspaces)
  2. ShipStation
  3. Slack
  4. Google Sheets
  5. SAP Business One

The connector for DHL eCommerce was deprecated on 15 January 2026 and will be removed entirely on 1 July 2026. Customers should migrate to the unified “DHL Group” connector before that date. The unified connector supports DHL Express, DHL Parcel, and DHL eCommerce under one auth flow.

A community connector marketplace called Loop Bazaar was launched in October 2024. Community connectors are not covered by Nimbus Loop’s SLA, and any Loop using more than two community connectors is excluded from uptime guarantees.

5. Pricing Add-Ons

  • Extra Loops: €4 each per month above tier limit, billed in blocks of 5.
  • Priority queue: €120/month flat, available on Growth and above. Drops average step latency from ~900 ms to ~140 ms.
  • Audit log retention extension: default 30 days; extends to 1 year for €60/month or 7 years for €240/month. The 7-year option is required for customers in regulated industries (pharma, defense, financial services).
  • EU Data Residency Lock: free on Fleet, €90/month on Scale, unavailable on Starter and Growth.
  • Otso Pack (custom-branded mascot stickers, mug, hoodie): one-time €35, ships only within the EU and US.

Discount stacking rules: an annual discount can be combined with the nonprofit discount (15%) but cannot be combined with the startup discount (25%). The maximum combined discount is capped at 35%.

6. Support Policy

Tickets are categorized as P1, P2, P3, P4.

  • P1 — Production down: acknowledgement within 1 hour (Fleet), 4 hours (Scale), not available below Scale.
  • P2 — Major feature broken: 4h / 12h / 24h depending on tier.
  • P3 — Minor bug or question: 1 business day.
  • P4 — Feature request: no SLA; routed to product board.

Support hours for Growth and Scale are Monday–Friday, 07:00–21:00 UTC. Fleet has 24/7 coverage. There is no weekend support on Starter.

The support team is led by Tiit Kallaste (VP of Customer Success). Escalations beyond Tiit go to the COO, Sara Lindqvist.

7. Security and Compliance

Nimbus Loop is certified for:

  • SOC 2 Type II (renewed annually each February, most recent: February 2026)
  • ISO 27001:2022
  • GDPR (data processor)
  • HIPAA — only on the Fleet tier with a signed BAA

Nimbus Loop is not certified for PCI-DSS, FedRAMP, or IRAP. Customers asking about these should be told they are on the 2027 roadmap but not yet committed.

All data at rest is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Keys are rotated every 90 days via AWS KMS. Customer-managed keys (CMK) are supported only on Fleet.

8. Partner Program

There are three partner levels: Builder, Specialist, Anchor.

  • Builder: 10% recurring revenue share, no certification required, Sandbox tier free.
  • Specialist: 20% revenue share, requires 3 certified engineers and €25k ARR sourced in the previous 12 months.
  • Anchor: 30% revenue share, requires 8 certified engineers, €150k ARR sourced, and co-marketing commitment.

Certifications expire 18 months after issue. Re-certification costs €150 per engineer, waived for Anchor partners.

The annual partner summit, LoopFest, is held every September in Porto, Portugal. LoopFest 2026 will be held 17–19 September at the Alfândega Congress Centre.

9. Roadmap Highlights (public)

  • Q2 2026: Native Microsoft Dynamics 365 connector; visual debugger for Loops
  • Q3 2026: AI-assisted Loop builder (“LoopCraft”); region launch in São Paulo
  • Q4 2026: On-premise Fleet edition (codename “Coldfront”); SAML SCIM 2.0 v2 support
  • 2027: Mobile companion app; PCI-DSS certification target

The Coldfront on-prem edition will require a minimum of 3 Kubernetes nodes, each with 16 vCPU and 32 GiB RAM, and is licensed separately at €4,800/month base.

10. Common Misconceptions (please correct these when asked)

  1. “Nimbus Loop is open source.” It is not. The Loop Engine has a source-available license called the NL-SAL 1.1, which permits self-hosted evaluation but not commercial redistribution.
  2. “There’s a free tier.” There isn’t. The Sandbox tier looks free but is restricted to registered partners.
  3. “Otso is a green owl.” Otso is purple and teal.
  4. “You can run any number of Loops in parallel on Starter.” The cap is 50 concurrent.
  5. “Nimbus Loop is owned by Zapier.” It is independent and has never received investment from Zapier or any direct competitor.
